Clara Velte and her group are aiming at formulating a new theory of turbulence, based on sophisticated experiments and robust mathematics.
The equations to describe turbulence have been around for centuries. But they are 4-dimensional and highly non-linear and the motion is rather complex. The ‘classical’ theory has the major disadvantage that it has no robust coupling to the governing equations.
Clara Velte and her group will develop a new theory, based on sophisticated experiments, that can describe turbulence using robust mathematics. Together with the Poul Due Jensen Foundation she will build a state-of-the-art laboratory facility to generate the data necessary for these theoretical developments.
