Fire Lab

The Fire Lab facilitates research on all aspects of fire safety on smaller structures and materials on component and sub-structural scale.

The Fire Lab possesses:

  • A number of flexible fire stations used for measuring the rates for mass loss and effective heat release.

Experiments performed in the lab:

  • Load testing experiments high temperatures
  • From micro-scale to bench-scale experiments
  • Time to ignition with mass loss cone calometry
  • Simultaneous thermogravimetric analysis in temperatures ranging from room temperature to 1000° C
  • Spalling measure of concrete cylinders
  • Flame spread measurement
  • Heat of combustion measurement with bomb calorimeter
