Turbulence Lab
The DTU Turbulence Research Laboratory is a unique and custom-built facility designed to improve the theoretical understanding as well the numerical models for turbulence.

The lab pushes the limits of what is possible to measure, and could have never been built using standard components.
Assoc. Prof. Clara Velte and her team of researchers have developed two set-ups with tailored optical solutions for measuring:
- The dissipation rate
- The dissipation transport equation balance
Dissipation is a key parameter both in turbulence theory and modeling, as is the dissipation transport equation balance.
These two set-ups can provide experiments which can only be carried out within these facilities, and directly target the weaknesses in existing theory and provide the basis necessary for expanding and improving the understanding of turbulence.
The laboratory also includes a 2.6 PB CEPH-cluster for the significant amounts of acquisition data.
The lab is funded by the Grundfos Foundation and an ERC Starting Grant.
